like most success stories, Ben Bentil had a rough background. He was raised by a single parent and he spent most of his childhood times on the shores of Sekondi. Despite his background, with dedication and self discipline, Bentil has made the front page of major sport magazines around the world.
At the age of 15, Bentil found his way outside the country leaving behind his mother, his three older brothers and one older sister behind in search of something more and attended St. Andrew School for his high school education. There, he was able to showcase his love for basketball. His hard work was noticed and he became one of standout in his team. Bentil caught the eyes of colleges all around America but decided to go to Providence College.
In his freshman year, the Power Forward kept the rim burning with an average of 6.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. This proved without no doubt that, Ben Bentil was ready for the bigger picture. Ben Bentil was ready to for NBA draft. Remarkably, Ben was able to score 15 points and 11 rebounds in 20 minutes of the first day, he followed it up with 17 points and 6 rebounds in 19 minutes the following day. These are the type of numbers NBA teams in search of the next “big thing” like to see on their scouting reports. The 21 year old has also had private workouts with the Timberwolves and Nuggets with positive feedbacks from the coaches of these two teams.
